My Hematology Appointment – October 30, 2026

On Friday, October 30, I had my first appointment with my hematologist, Dr. Molly Daughety, since returning from my vacation in Europe.

Before my appointment, I already completed my CBC blood test so my doctor could review my latest results.

During our meeting, we discussed my low white blood cell count and low platelets, which are related to my liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension.

We also talked about my history of iron deficiency anemia and portal vein thrombosis.

Here is what we decided during my appointment:

My doctor recommended reducing my Eliquis from 5 mg to 2.5 mg twice daily. This medication is important because of my history of blood clots in the portal vein.

I will also continue having blood tests every two months. These tests will include CBC with differential, ferritin, and iron saturation. My next blood test is scheduled for around December 27, 2026.

I also need to continue following up with my GI specialist for liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension.

Another important part of my health is my heart. My doctor recommended continuing my follow-up with Cardiology for heart failure and coronary artery disease.

My next hematology appointment will be in six months.

My Thoughts

I have been dealing with several health problems for a long time, and I know this is not something that will change overnight.

My liver, heart, and blood counts are all things I need to keep monitoring. I understand how important it is to stay on top of my appointments, medications, blood tests, diet, and physical activity.

I’m not expecting miracles, but I do expect myself to stay disciplined and do everything I can to improve my health.

My goal is still the same: keep fighting my liver disease, take care of my heart, and stay as healthy and active as possible.

I will continue updating my medical statistics on this website, including my CBC results, so visitors can follow my progress.

One appointment at a time, one blood test at a time. I’m not giving up.
